SageSpot

Social Media

SageSpot is a a subscription-based social media platform that empowers users to explore & discuss what they love through individual communities built by their favorite Creators. SageSpot’s founders came to us with a name and a vision. We helped shape them into a bold brand identity, while also designing the UX/UI for their initial product launch.

the real thing

“The whole Boundary team is truly world-class. They helped us formulate and distill the message and branding of SageSpot and design the UX/UI for our MVP. When choosing between agencies, we were looking for someone we could trust and someone who cared. Boundary does both.”

Branding

SageSpot’s founders wanted the brand to be youthful and energetic. At the same time, we felt strongly that a bold wordmark (as opposed to an icon) was the ideal strategy for building brand and name recognition.

Headline Typeface
Colors & typography

We started with a suite of colors from the cool side of the color wheel to be familiar within tech, then pumped up their vibrancy to create new energy. For typefaces, we used Google’s Days One for headlines to add bold, playful character.

UX/UI Design

Fundamental to SageSpot’s product design was the need for two distinct user experiences: one for Creators, and one for subscribers, with the ability for Creators to also be subscribers.

Additionally, subscribers needed an intuitive way to navigate between a Creator’s personal Spot and theme-based Communities where multiple Creators and fans could congregate around shared interests. And because SageSpot is a web application, the UX/UI design needed to be responsive to desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.

As an early-stage startup, SageSpot was in the midst of recruiting their founding team while we worked together. So in addition to designing their brand identity and MVP for their product launch, we also augmented their dev team with React web development support to expedite velocity.

SageSpot’s mission is to change how people interact in the digital world. For too long, legacy social media giants have raked in billions in annual revenue while Creators make pennies on the dollar.

With SageSpot, world-class Creators form individual Spots where they post in-depth content for their most passionate followers to subscribe for exclusive access. Membership to a Creator’s Spot also unlocks related topic communities.

Social Content

To help drum up excitement for SageSpot’s initial product launch, we created a whole slew of Instagram posts to educate people about the brand and also showcase their first batch of Creators committed to the platform.

Creating social posts pre-launch inspired us to get creative with typography in the absence of any in-app content to leverage. Once Creators like Torrie Wilson signed on, we put them front and center.
